"The more you read, the more things you will know.  The more you learn, the more places you'll go."
-Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"

Research shows that there are six essential elements of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and motivation/prior knowledge.

Through the implementation of best practices, alongside meaningful, standards-based coaching, these elements are a part of each reading lesson in grades 6-8.

This consistent approach to reading instruction will develop students' comprehension at the independent level, will lead to success at the instructional level, and will provide them with the tools to avoid the pitfalls of the frustration level.
