In December 2002, I read an ad in the Asbury Park Press for a position in the LBPS as a middle school English teacher. After being interviewed during my last week of student teaching, I was hired and began teaching at the middle school in January 2003.
I spent my first six years teaching 8th grade English Language Arts, where I helped my students develop a love of reading and writing. For the next six years, I served as the middle school English Language Arts Facilitator. I learned a great deal during this time about how to approach the teaching of reading and how to utilize the latest research to improve instruction. This year marks my eighth year back in the classroom after serving as Facilitator and I am extremely grateful to be a part of the classroom experience with my students.
In addition to my role as a teacher, I also serve as the head teacher for the ELA department, the coordinator of the National Junior Honor Society, head coach of the middle school wrestling and soccer teams, and assistant baseball coach.
