Hello! It's nice to meet you!
Welcome! My name is Ms. Olsen and I will be your child's math teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Since I will be working so closely with your child, I'd like to tell you a little about myself. This year will be my fourth year working in the Long Branch Public Schools District and my third year working for Long Branch Middle School. During the 2018-2019 school year, I worked at Lenna W. Conrow as a special ed pre-school instructional assistant. I started at Long Branch Middle School during the 2019-2020 school year as an 8th grade math. Last year, during the 2020-2021 school year, I taught 6th grade math. I am so excited to continue teaching at the 6th grade level and look forward to getting to know your child throught the 2021-2022 school year.
Before my teaching career began, I studied at Rutgers University. RU Rah Rah! I graduated from Rutgers in 2017 with a bachelors degree in psychology. In 2019, I graduated from Rutgers Graduate School of Education with a masters degree in education. I am certified to teach k-5th grade, 6-8th grade mathematics, and have a special education endorsement. While getting my degrees, I worked part time as a pharmacy technician for a local veterinary hospital. I was an employee there for just over 10 years! During that time, I also worked at St. Leo the Great School as a 3rd grade instructional assistant.
When I am not teaching, you may find me cooking/baking, painting, reading a good book, jamming out to some country music, or spending time with my family. I also love to travel! I have seen 28 states so far. I look forward to finding out what your childs passions are this year and making their first year in middle school lots of fun! (Yes, math can be fun!)
I hope I have the opportunity meet you all in person very soon! We will get through this year together. Know that I am here for you every step of the way! If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out.
