Parents/Guardians/Students:
I am so happy to be teaching United States History! We will ease into the school year. My mission has not changed - to support your child academically, emotionally and socially. We will reset and, if needed, reset again. This is what teachers do - we are flexible and patient and we find a way to do what's best for children.
I started my career at Long Branch Middle School in 2002, where I taught grade eight Language Arts. After my fourth year, I was asked to become one of the Language Arts Facilitator at the Middle School. During my time as a facilitator, I modeled classes for and coached teachers, helped write curricula and researched and helped implement reading and writing programs in elementary and middle schools.
I stepped back into the classroom several years ago teaching United States History and I've loved every minute of it. I am lucky to be able to use my reading and writing teaching experience coupled with my legal background to offer my students an interesting approach to their learning. I have been trained in and use the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model which is a research-based and validated instructional model that addresses the academic needs of English Language learners. This method is a best practice for all students.
I am looking forward to an amazing year with my students and I am available if you have any questions or concerns or just need to talk.
