    Portuguese I and II : Classroom Rules and Procedures

    Welcome to Portuguese! It will be an exciting and rewarding year. Please take the time to review all classroom rules and procedures. This packet will help to ensure you have a successful year. J

    Requirements for class:

    You must bring the following to class EVERYDAY:

    1. Notebook – Binder

    2. Pen or Pencil

    3. Complete assignments/homework 

    4. A positive and energetic attitude! J

    Protocols for  virtual learning when we are remote:

    1. Turn on the camera

    2. Mute yourself upon entry

    3. Logging in on time

    4. Remaining actively engaged

    5. Use proper language

     

    Classroom Rules:

    1. All school rules apply in this classroom: Respect yourself, Respect others, Respect school rules, policies, and procedures. Refer to the Student Handbook for any questions.

    2. Be ON TIME and PREPARED for class. Must bring notebook, pen/pencil, and any homework that is due. You will not be permitted to go to your locker for class materials.

    3. RESPECT:

      1. Your teacher – Raise your hand especially when teacher is talking, do not use profanity, and be courtesy.

      2. Your classmates - Bullying will not be tolerated. No name calling or any negative comments towards each other during class and school hours. Treat others the way you want to be treated. J

      3. Your classroom – Do not write on the desks, leave trash on the floor, damage any property within the classroom, and do not touch what is not yours.

    4. No food or drink allowed in class.

    5. NO CELLPHONES allowed in class. Leave the in your lockers or your backpacks. They are not to be placed on top of the desk or where the teacher can see (unless instructed by the teacher). 

    6. A school uniform is required to enter the classroom. Safe School will be notified of any uniform infractions.

    Classroom Procedures:

    1. Arrive on time to class. Enter the classroom quietly and calmly. Upon entering the classroom, sit in your assigned seat and take out your homework and notebook.

    2. Start the DO NOW activity that will be located on the board.

    3. Each day there will be an OBJECTIVE, AGENDA, and HOMEWORK written on the board. Make sure to you know the objective for the day!

    4. All work must have your name, date, period, and assignment description.

    5. Any class work completed during class will be handed in at the end of class. If not turned in, student will receive a zero for the work.

     

    Attendance Policy (absences/tardiness):

    1. Students who reach 16 unexcused absences in any course will be awarded NO CREDIT for that course.

    2. Any student that attains 5 unexcused daily absences in any one marking period will be placed into no credit status in all classes in his or her schedule.  

    3. Cutting class is a serious issue. If you skipped class, a discipline referral will be written for each offense and a phone call home will be made.

     Grading Policy:

    The grade you earn in this class is a reflection of the work you do every marking period. It is your responsibility to work hard to receive a good grade!
