Long Branch Public Schools is committed to promoting safe, healthy, and accessible routes for students traveling to and from school. The district established clear guidelines and expectations for students, parents, and guardians through a Board-adopted Safe Routes to School District Policy incorporated within the district’s Sustainability Policy, approved in January 2018. This policy reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to student safety, active transportation, and community collaboration.
The district regularly partners with local law enforcement and municipal and regional agencies to plan, develop, and promote safe, accessible, and convenient pedestrian and bicycle routes to school. Long Branch Public Schools is actively involved in the New Jersey Safe Routes to School Program, and several schools within the district have received recognition for their efforts to support safe and active school travel.
In June 2022, the Board of Education adopted an updated and unified Safe Routes to School District Policy that reflects a more comprehensive and modern approach. The revised policy establishes consistent, districtwide standards for Safe Routes to School implementation, ensuring equitable expectations and practices across all schools.
During the 2025–2026 school year, schools within the district participated in the New Jersey Safe Routes to School Program and hosted Safe Routes to School assemblies focused on pedestrian and bicycle safety.
