My name is Ms. Dousset, I am an eight grade social studies teacher. This is my fourth year in education and my second year at Long Branch Middle School. I studied history at New York University where I received my B.A. in 20th Century U.S. history. I went back to school and received my K-12 Teaching Certification in Social Studies and Students with Disabilities. In May 2019 I received my Masters in education.
I am very excited to begin the 2019-2020 school year with my students and their guardians. I am looking forward to working very diligently to ensure that my students gets the most from this course and is prepared for their future as they go through school. The goal of this class is to help improve their communication, listening, writing, reading and critical thinking skills. As well as help to foster an environment of understanding and empathy. While I know some of the students do not like history, my hope is to spark an interest in history especially since we are living through it everyday. In addition, I want to encourage your students passion for education and success academically. I believe that all children can succeed in the classroom when given the right opportunities, tools and motivation to learn. In my classroom you will be given a set of tools that you can take with you inside and outside of the classroom. Those tools stem from the idea of RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY. I am available via firstname.lastname@example.org which is my email.
