Welcome!  My name is Samilia Ghartey-Sam. I am a school social worker in the School Based Youth Services Department at the High School.  I assist students by addressing their emotional, interpersonal, academic, and familial issues.  The service is provided through the following modalities - individual, group, family therapy and crisis intervention to students and their families.  I am also co-advisor of the African American Culture Club.  That role gives me the opportunity to engage students in issues that affect them as individuals, a community, a state, and a nation.  The goal of discussions and activities is to foster a better understanding of their varying perspectives and find commonalities and things that unite them.  They also learn to come up with solutions for problems that they are confronted with.
