    LBMS Wrestling Defeats Thompson; Captures Division Title

     

    On Tuesday, February 12th, the LBMS Wrestling team soundly defeated Thompson Middle School, 66 to 24.  The Green Wave won 15 of the 20 contested bouts, saving their best performance for their biggest match of the year.  With the win, the team clinched the outright division title, their second title in three years and their 14th division title since 2003.  The win pushed the team's overall record to 18-0 with their division record 13-0.  The team will wrap up their season on the road against Holmdel on Thursday, where they look to become only the third team in school history to finish 19-0.

     

    LBMS Wrestling Upends Previously Undefeated Thompson Middle School, 64-27

     

    The Long Branch Middle School Wrestling team defeated defending division champion, Thompson Middle School,  64-27, in front of a packed gym at LBMS.  The Green Wave were impressive in all three phases of wrestling (neutral, top & bottom) and remained focused throughout the entirety of the match.  In addition, the team displayed composure in close matches and sportsmanship in wins and losses.  The win now pushes the Green Wave's division record to 4-0 and 9-0 overall.  The team will be back in action at home on Tuesday, January 15 vs. Satz (Holmdel) Middle School.

     

    LBMS Wrestling Goes Undefeated in Tri-County Duals

     

    On Thursday, December 27th,  the Long Branch Middle School Wrestling team hosted the Tri-County Duals.  Six total teams from Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties competed in a dual meet format, with each team competing in three matches.   The Green Wave wrestled against Lake Riviera (Brick), Perth Amboy, and Veterans Memorial (Brick), going a perfect 3 - 0 on the day.   The Green Wave won a total of 39 out of 50 contested bouts and outscored its three opponents 264 to 60.  It was a dominant day for the Green Wave, helped by the support and encouragement of family and fans.   The team will be back on the mat in the new year to take on division rival Bayshore Middle School on Thursday, January 4th.
