Welcome To My Online ClassroomName: Joanne RohrmanSchool: Long Branch Middle SchoolELA - English/Language Arts, Grade 7
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! It is wonderful to be back for ifull-time, in-person instruction. We are excited about new programs and services, but especially happy to be back in the classroom.
This year our 7th graders will all have the opportunity to explore "Into Literature" - our new ELA curriculum. This challenging program offers a mix of interactive online and traditional activities, with a wide variety of diverse reading selections chosen to appeal to young readers. Additional ELA activities and resources include journal writing, independent reading on a variety of platforms including traditional books, vocabulary expansion via Membean, targeted readings and assessments on CommonLit, and up-to-the-minute reporting on the latest developments in science, technology, current events, sports, entertainment, and social studies on Newsela. Google Classroom is the place for work assignments and online resources, and where sub plans will be available when necessary.
As President Barack Obama said, "Reading is the gateway skill that makes all learning possible, from complex word problems and the meaning of our history to scientific discovery and technological proficiency." This quote reflects why I teach ELA. I will do everything I can to make this a challenging, entertaining, and rewarding year for our students! It is great to be back!
