I am pleased to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to our class. A good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort between parent/guardian, child, and teacher. My expectations for conduct and standards for academic growth are high. With your participation in and out of the classroom we can look forward to a productive, creative and fun filled year together.

I would like to share with you a list of our classroom specials and policies to help bridge a cooperative effort.

    HOMEWORK POLICY

Homework is required to be returned the next school day, unless otherwise noted. If for any reason homework cannot be completed please send me a note. I understand illness, special occasions and family emergencies happen and a reasonable extension will be given.

Your child is responsible for bringing home their homework and studying his/her math facts every night, and returning it everyday. Any missing homework is to be returned the following day along with the pervious day’s assigned homework.

I also require a parent/guardian signature or initials on all missing and math facts homework. This is to ensure that you have reviewed each assignment with your child and helps to reinforce the importance of completing homework and studying his/her math facts.

Long-range assignments are sometimes assigned with the hope that sound organizational skills will be practiced. Your child may need assistance from you in budgeting his/her time wisely. I will give the students strategies for studying and organizing assignments.

    TESTS

All tests require your signature, so please sign and return each test within the week after your child brings it home.

    HOMEWORK FOLDER

It is your child’s responsibility to take home his/her homework folder every night and return it the following school day. All papers should be kept inside the folder. Please check it every night for homework and any notices that may need your immediate attention. Please help keep the folder from clutter by removing all unnecessary paperwork that is not to be returned. Also, all homework assignments are written in the student planned and signed by me daily. Please look every day for assignments and sign next to my signature. There is also a space for comments, please utilize this space for any notes to me. I will check the section daily and be able to address the situation promptly and effectively.
